1991 - MAN awarded it first group of scholars with scholarships totaling $4,800. Since then, the organization has awarded and administered a total of $900,000 in scholarship dollars to help over 200 students achieve their goal of a high school and college education.
1992 - A female was welcomed to the MAN team, Margaret Stewart (former Administrative Director.) Margaret planned, implemented and managed all the organization’s education outreach programs, events, and activities bringing together athletes with dynamic young people in pursuit of academic and career success. MAN etc. hosted it's first Annual Scholarship Dinner honoring Bill Parcells.
1993 - MAN began it's first internship program in association with Bear Stearns Inc. MAN's 2nd Annual Scholarship Dinner was held honoring the late Arthur Ashe.
1995 - George Washington Carver Service, Inc. was formed to manufacture top-quality window treatments, while providing inner-city young adults with work experience and a brighter future. It was a unique public/private partnership between Hunter Douglas Window Fashions, MAN etc., Chemical Bank of New Jersey and the Paterson Restoration Corporation. G. W. Carver Service, Inc. opened the window of opportunity for employees by giving them a first-hand experience in running a successful business.
1998 - Dianne Martin became the organization’s Director of Development. She was responsible for developing, administering, and executing academic and mentoring programs for MAN.
1999 - Hunter Douglas began their sponsorship of the MAN Scholarship Program whereby the Jerry Fuchs/ MAN etc., Inc. "Making A Difference" Scholarship Program was established. The Jerry Fuchs/ MAN etc., Inc. "Making A Difference" Scholarship Program offered scholarships to assist in funding education and occupational advancement schooling of qualified individuals identified by MAN etc., Inc. and Hunter Douglas.
2001 - MAN’s Scholastic Aptitude Test Preparatory (SAT Prep) course was developed in partnership with Fairleigh Dickinson University. Coordinated by Kenneth T. Vehrkens, Associate Vice President at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and taught by Dr. Lee Pierson, Director of the Thinking skills Institute of Fairleigh Dickinson University New College of General and Continuing Studies, the 1-hour course was designed to build students’ confidence in taking the SAT and prepare them for college admission and graduation. The schools that were involved in this program include the READY Program, New Jersey Path Ways, The Football Foundation Play It Smart Program and the Newark Boys and Girls Club.
2002 - MAN members conduct a Youth Football Clinic Program for the students of the Newark City Public School System. The clinic served as an outreach program used to convey an important message, to the youth, about the resistance of Drugs, the necessity of Education, Community, Family Involvement, and Recreational Activities. Approximately 300 students from the City of Newark Pop Warner League were in attendance. 2004 – MAN extends it’s membership to women.
2006 - MAN etc. initiated the Adopt-A-School program in at Central High School in Newark, N.J. The project is an effort to encourage youth to stay in school, make wise choices about continuing their education upon graduation, and become positive community leaders. A kick-off dinner was held to formally introduce the MAN organization to the students, parents, and staff at Central HS. George Martin and Harry Carson were keynote speakers.
