MAN etc. initiated the Adopt-A-School program in October 2006. This project is an effort to encourage students at Central High School, Newark, NJ to: stay in school, make wise choices about continuing their education upon graduation, and become positive community leaders. To ensure that the Adopt-A-School Program is a success, MAN etc. facilitates a monthly mentoring session with approximately 40 young men and women at Central H.S., plans fieldtrips that will expose the students to arts and culture, and link businesses with Central H.S. that offer the students summer internships.
MAN etc is preparing to adopt a school, located in the urban New York area, in September 2007.

Promoting scholarship and academic achievement is a special interest of MAN. It is only natural that one of our goals would be to increase the value and total number of its scholarship awards. MAN's scholarship program is vastly different from other scholarship programs. The value proposition of this program is our ability to identify disadvantaged, "diamond in the rough," applicants with high potential to succeed. MAN scholarships are awarded to applicants that exhibit the uniqueness of those whose lives would be significantly impacted by the funding of further education and the characteristics to become corporate and/or community leaders. MAN awarded its first scholarship in 1991 to college-bound minority teenagers, in 1999, Hunter Douglas began their sponsorship of the MAN Scholarship Program whereby the Jerry Fuchs/MAN etc., Inc. "Making A Difference" Scholarship Program was established. The Jerry Fuchs/MAN etc., Inc. "Making A Difference' Scholarship Program offers scholarships to assist in funding education and occupational advancement schooling of qualified individuals identified by MAN etc., Inc. and Hunter Douglas. Hunter Douglas has sponsored this program since 1999. Since then, 75% of MAN Scholars have graduated from over 20 Colleges and universities across the country, including such universities as Hampton, Harvard, Rutgers, Cornell, Stanford and Seton Hall. Currently, there are 27 MAN Scholars who are candidates for their bachelor and master degrees. These scholarships provide funding for the recipient's Schooling for maximum of four years based upon successful fulfillment of the scholarship continuance criteria. Each year the award is reviewed and awarded on a semi-annual basis. In order to maintain eligibility scholars must: submit proof of school or college registration for each subsequent year and a copy of transcript at conclusion of each semester of study; attend at least two MAN etc., Inc. outreach programs annually; participate in a community service activity either at their school or home environment. Scholars must maintain a G.P.A. of 3.0; and communicate with the MAN office and mentor on a monthly basis. MAN has significant experience and expertise in scholarship programs, employment projects counseling and recreational services, and mentorship initiatives. Presently, our objective is to expand our MAN Scholarship Program beyond the NY/NJ area and increase the number of students that currently participate.
